Why Games Aren't Just for Your Console

Although some game fanatics prefer to play video games on their computers, some are diehard fans of console, even to the point that the question of which is the most superior gaming platform can lead to a great debate among them.

There are several reasons as to this difference in opinion. These include:

Availability

Before now, a lot of games were only available on one platform or another. In recent years there has been a change in this although some slight differences can be seen in game play when observing various versions of video games on differing platforms.

Cost

Even though computers may cost thousands of dollars particularly for high end, specialized gaming systems, a lot of gamers prefer to play their games on computers as it serves them for many years. Furthermore PC's can also be backwards compatible, meaning that you won't have to replace your old games when your system becomes more sophisticated or upgraded. With consoles however, you will have to have specific games which are available only from specific brands. Although backwards compatibility is covered more so now than before on consoles due to DVD / Blue-Ray discs being used to load the games. Another factor that is discouraging for many users is the expense of new consoles in spite of their various features.

Optimization

Although optimised computers for game play exist, such as interface devices which are game specific and graphic processors of high speed, console game fanatics feel as if the systems that are available for console games provide more gaming enjoyment than the system on their PC. Consoles usually do not crash as much as computers based on the system it uses, and nothing is as frustrating as being stopped in the midst of a very dramatic game play sequence.

User Interfaces

Interfaces for PC gaming are normally a combination of keyboard and mouse, which is very suitable for first strategy or shooter games, in which the PC really excels. Conversely, fighting, sports, and driving games are usually better suited to the controller or game pad used with gaming consoles. They are also more practical and comfortable than a mouse and keyboard.

One good way of finding out if a PC or a console is best for you is by reading reviews. You can also read reviews for console and PC hardware in order to see how the most recent technology is rated by other people.

The similarities between gaming on the PC and consoles grow continuously. Networking is offered by many systems as previously mentioned and both have user interface devices that are game specific and benefit various game types and PC hardware has become very sophisticated and now boasts multi core processing power that is superior to that of consoles. Now is the time for gamers to end the war!

PC gaming also offers many advantages just as console gaming does. There are also certain games which you can play on the two platforms, without having to move from one to another. It all comes down to the level of immersion or engagement required by the gamer from the game.

You can also find games to play for free courtesy of games developer and publisher Revolt Games.
